Funded through the European Union\u2019s Partnership Instrument and implemented by MOi, EU4OceanObs will work to strengthen international ocean governance for\u00a0the enhanced collection, sharing and use of ocean data and knowledge for societal benefit.<\/p>\n<p>The new project EU4OceanObs website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.eu4oceanobs.eu<\/a>) will be a valuable channel of information on the project\u2019s actions and on Europe\u2019s leading-edge ocean observing capacities, infrastructures and programmes.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>EU4OceanObs actions on international ocean governance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>EU4OceanObs will work directly with two international programmes, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/g7-fsoi\/eu_coordination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G7 Future of the Seas and Oceans Initiative<\/a>\u00a0(G7 FSOI) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/geo-blue-planet\/eu-coordination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blue Planet initiative<\/a>. Through these components, EU4OceanObs will ensure that Europe\u2019s contribution to\u00a0international ocean governance\u00a0is a comprehensive, coordinated and seamless end-to-end service that promotes and supports international and regional efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The project website will provide regular information on the activities of these two components via its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">News<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Events<\/a>\u00a0section.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Increasing the global impact and uptake of European ocean observing infrastructures and data products<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Through its communication activities, EU4OceanObs will work to raise international awareness on Europe\u2019s extensive capacities for ocean observation, data-handling and sharing, and modelling and forecasting. Featuring how Europe contributes to the collection, sharing, transformation and use of ocean data, the EU4OceanObs website offers a panoramic view of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/eu_ocean_observing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European ocean observing system components<\/a>. The website also features a dedicated section on EU-funded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/regional_initiatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">initiatives<\/a>\u00a0to enhance regional capacities and increase the sharing and use of ocean data with regions and countries beyond Europe. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu4oceanobs.eu\/use-cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Use Cases section<\/a> promotes use cases of ocean data and information along the ocean observation value chain, relying on EU-supported programmes and projects.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>MOi\u2019s commitment to serving European priorities<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The European Commission entrusted the implementation of EU4OceanObs to MOi in Nov 2020. Having been selected to implement and operate the EU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/marine.copernicus.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Copernicus Marine Service<\/a> in 2014 and to develop the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wekeo.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WEkEO<\/a> Copernicus Data and Information Access Service in 2017, MOi has a longstanding experience in working with the European Commission.
