Uniting Global Efforts to Transform Ocean Science and Prediction
Future IGO, Centre international Mercator Ocean
Mercator Ocean se transforme actuellement en une future organisation intergouvernementale, le Centre international Mercator Ocean, qui poursuivra et élargira sa mission de faire progresser la science numérique de l’Océan et l’océanographie opérationnelle pour les États membres. Au cours de cette transformation, Mercator Ocean assurera le secrétariat de la future OIG.
Le Centre international Mercator Ocean fournira aux États membres une plateforme collaborative pour gouverner, codévelopper et maintenir les systèmes et services d’information numériques sur l’Océan, y compris le Jumeau Numérique de l’Océan, pour l’Océan mondial et les mers régionales. Cette plateforme soutiendra les services opérationnels de la Commission européenne et de son programme Copernicus, en fournissant aux États membres des informations sur les océans adaptées à leurs besoins.
En tant que secrétariat, Mercator Ocean soutient les réunions du conseil d’administration, des comités consultatifs et des groupes de travail, et facilite la mise en œuvre et le suivi des actions convenues.
