has launched its pre-operational state-of-the-art seasonal prediction systems. The products will be available on the 15th of each month. The forecasts are updated every month and cover a time range of 6 months and cover variables such as air, sea-surface temperature, atmospheric circulation.
The centres which are providing forecasts so far to C3S are ECMWF, The Met Office and Météo-France. The new prediction system of Météo-France uses as oceanic initial conditions for its forecast the conditions from the operational system of Mercator-Ocean. Here, the sea surface temperatures for the oceanic restart and its anomalies show warmer temperatures in the tropical Pacific and cold ones in the North Atlantic than the reference period. The seasonal forecast for April-May-June predict warmer temperatures over the Pacific ocean and no clear signal is found over Europe.
