In the western basin and in the west of the eastern basin, the extent of the marine heatwave has decreased significantly, leaving only a few areas in moderate category. In the east of the eastern basin, the intensity of the marine heatwave is increasing, with moderate and strong categories.

The extent and the intensity of the marine heatwave impacting the basin are stable in moderate to strong categories, except for marine heatwave along the African coast around 15°N which is diminishing in both intensity and area, and is now in moderate category.
The marine heatwave in the center of the basin around 40°S is intensifying, and is now mainly in strong category.
The area of the marine heatwaves throughout the basin is decreasing. Their intensity remains stable, ranging from moderate to locally strong category.
The marine heatwave between Papua New Guinea and New Zealand is intensifying with the development of strong to locally severe categories. The marine heatwave in the east of the basin around 100°W remains stable in moderate category. A marine heatwave of moderate category is developing off the northern coast of Chile.
The marine heatwave present west of Sumatra is increasing in intensity, moving overall into the strong category. The extent of the marine heatwave present east of Madagascar is increasing, reaching 90°E in moderate to locally strong categories. The marine heatwave at 60°S (Southern Ocean) is intensifying, moving from moderate and strong to strong and severe, and locally extreme categories.
