Mercator Ocean International provides science-based services to benefit society by making Ocean data and expertise accessible to everyone, including Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), educational institutions, and the public. As a leader in digital oceanography, we aim to deepen understanding of the Ocean’s role in planetary health while supporting initiatives that promote conservation and sustainable use of marine resources. Our outreach efforts, which include exhibitions, school projects, and educational materials, have engaged around 2 million people globally, empowering communities to make informed choices about the Ocean.
NGOS Partnerships
We collaborate with diverse NGOs to advance Ocean conservation, raise awareness of marine issues, and support sustainable practices that benefit ecosystems and communities. Many initiatives are funded through the Copernicus Marine Service we coordinate, ensuring meaningful impact through science-backed solutions.

Ocean Literacy
Through events like international conferences and museum exhibits, Mercator Ocean International promotes Ocean literacy by sharing models and expertise. These efforts have helped over 1 million people understand the Ocean’s challenges and potential. By developing innovative tools and fostering engagement, we aim to inspire sustainable practices and greater public involvement in marine conservation.
