Tropical Atlantic

The extent of the marine heatwave in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea is decreasing, but its intensity remains moderate overall. The extent of the marine heatwave in the center of the basin is decreasing, but its intensity remains stable overall. The marine heatwave along the African coast around 15°N remains stable overall in extent and intensity.

South Atlantic

A moderate to locally strong marine heatwave is developing off the coast of Namibia. A moderate to strong marine heatwave is developing in the center of the basin around 40°S.

North Pacific

The marine heatwave in the center of the basin is decreasing in size and intensity and is generally classified as moderate, with locally strong categories. The marine heatwave in the southern South China Sea is decreasing in extent and intensity, with only one strong category area remaining north of the island of Borneo.

South Pacific

The marine heatwave stretching from southern Papua New Guinea to northern New Zealand is decreasing in extent and intensity, with a reduction in strong categories. The marine heatwave present in the east of the basin around 100°W is decreasing in extent but remains stable in intensity, with most areas still classified as moderate.

Indian Ocean

The marine heatwave west of Sumatra is decreasing in extent and intensity and is now generally classified as moderate.

Southern Ocean

The marine heatwave in the southernmost part of the basin in the Southern Ocean remains stable, with most areas still classified as strong and locally severe.
