We are pleased to invite you to the Sentinel-6B pre-launch media briefing with Mercator Ocean alongside ESA, EUMETSAT, the European Commission and NASA, on Thursday, 13 November, from 11:00 to 12:00 CET.

Pierre-Yves Le Traon, Mercator Ocean’s Scientific Director, will highlight the major role of Sentinel-6B for the Copernicus Marine Service – from monitoring mean sea level rise to improving ocean forecasts for a wide range of marine applications.

The Copernicus Sentinel-6B satellite is scheduled for launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California (USA) no earlier than Q4 2025. The official launch date and further details will be shared as soon as available.

The satellite will continue a unique 30-year record of sea-level observations – a key indicator of climate change.

The data from this mission will enhance weather, ocean state and climate forecasts and support effective water management.
