EDITO is the core infrastructure of the European Digital Twin Ocean. As a free, public platform, it offers the marine science and data community access to cutting-edge tools for developing digital twins, making science-based decisions, and maximizing the impact of research and innovation actions across the key objectives of the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean & Waters: protect biodiversity, stop marine pollution, and support a sustainable blue economy. It also promotes co-creation and openness, inviting contributions from diverse communities to enrich the platform and towards the co-construction of the European Digital Twin Ocean.
In its current phase (2025-2028), the Horizon Europe-funded EDITO2 project seeks to enhance the platform’s services for researchers and institutional contributors and grow the community of projects and initiatives harnessing EDITO, towards co-creating a fully operational European Digital Twin Ocean. These efforts will help consolidate the foundation of the European Digital Twin Ocean through the co-creation of an operational, interoperable, and scalable infrastructure.
This first call focuses on the integration into the EDITO platform of mature, already developed and qualified digital ocean applications, models or datasets which are ready or close to their final version.
The call welcomes projects developing interoperable applications or models that can be applied to key ocean and coastal challenges, including biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem assessment and climate-related scenario modelling.
Selected projects will contribute to improving ocean data flows, ocean modelling capacity, and scenario testing for the implementation of the above-mentioned policy frameworks, directives and for the EU Mission Lighthouses.
