Mercator Ocean Showcases Operational Maritime Applications at EU Space Conference 2026

From 27 to 28 January 2026, Mercator Ocean will be at the heart of the EU Space Conference organized by DG DEFIS in Brussels. Positioned next to the Agora’s suspended Sentinel-6 satellite display, our booth will bring the latest operational maritime applications to the spotlight, demonstrating the tangible impact of Earth observation data on Ocean safety, navigation, and port operations.

Visitors will experience interactive demonstrations of the EU Digital Twin Ocean, including advanced AIS tracking, ice drift and noise monitoring in the Arctic, and maritime security tools such as pirate detection and Baltic safety monitoring. Our showcase emphasizes the real-world operational use cases of Copernicus and other satellite data, bridging space technology with daily maritime decision-making.

Mercator Ocean will also participate in a high-level roundtable on 27 January, highlighting collaborative applications with partners such as Kubilis and Kadis. The session aims to reinforce Mercator Ocean’s role in operational oceanography and its contribution to EU maritime strategy.

Being at the EU Space Conference, Mercator Ocean will demonstrate how Ocean monitoring, forecasting, and maritime security are increasingly driven by space data, strengthening Europe’s maritime resilience and innovation.
