EDITO Model Lab General Assembly 2024

The Horizon Europe project EDITO-Model Lab will hold its annual General Assembly meeting from 16 to 18 January 2024. Hosted by project partner Fondazione CMCC – Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici in Lecce, Italy, the event will bring together representatives from the project’s partners and advisory board, the European Commission and invited guests to discuss achievements, milestones, challenges and future activities of the project. The event will also feature user sessions dedicated to the focus applications and what-if scenarios under development and technical internal sessions.

Launched in January 2023, EDITO- Model Lab “Underlying models for the European DIgital Twin Ocean” is a three-year research and innovation project funded by the European Union. The project is building the next generation of models, software and tools to be seamlessly integrated into the European Digital Twin Ocean platform underdevelopment through the sister project EDITO-Infra. Incorporating sophisticated elements such as new modelling and simulation software, artificial intelligence (AI), algorithms, and specialised tools, EDITO-Model Lab will provide a unique service capacity for accessing, manipulating, analysing, understanding marine information, with enhanced ocean forecasting and ocean climate prediction capabilities. This in turn will enable on-demand simulations and exploration of various what-if scenarios to test and assess impacts of management decisions and potential impacts of climate change on marine and coastal environments. The project’s 13-partner consortium is coordinated by Mercator Ocean International.
