Mercator Ocean International and BSH – the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, are organizing the European Digital Ocean Systems Evolution 2028–2034 Workshop. This focused 1.5-day event will convene a representative group of experts from Europe’s key marine and digital Ocean communities to co-design the next phase of Europe’s digital Ocean systems.
Strategic Focus
Orgnasied in collaboration with the EMODnet Secretariat, the workshop will support the European Commission’s strategic priorities, including the EU Ocean Pact, and contribute to planning for the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
Over 1.5 days, we will explore together the strategic role of European Digital Ocean Systems, their services and connections to other European initiatives and further explore how to better support the European Commission’s priorities, such as the EU Ocean Pact.
Areas of discussion will include observation needs, innovative ocean and artificial intelligence approaches to improve information accessibility, foster stronger links between local, national, and global applications, and enhance engagement at the science–policy interface.
