COPERNICUS MARINE – INNOVATION – ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CORRECTION OF ATMOSPHERIC FORCING FOR THE GLOBAL ANALYSIS AND FORECASTING SYSTEM

The purpose of this consultation is the development of artificial intelligence-based correction of atmospheric forcing for global ocean forecast and reanalysis.

The objectives are as follows:

  • to develop bias correction methodology dedicated for the different atmospheric forcing fields used by global systems and to be applied to large scale and long-term time series as well as for small scale features for near real time analysis or short-term forecast. The methodology will be based on an artificial intelligence approach with a training period and a data set that may include ocean/atmosphere observations and numerical simulations.
  • to produce a set of corrected fields necessary for estimating momentum, heat and mass fluxes at the ocean/atmosphere interface in reanalysis, real-time and forecast modes.

The developments carried out under this contract will be distributed under an open-source license.
