On 26–27 May 2026, Mercator Ocean International will participate in the EU Space Days 2026 in Nicosia, Cyprus, contributing to the European Digital Twin Ocean booth alongside the Copernicus Marine Service.

Organised by the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, EU Space Days is the European Union’s flagship event dedicated to space policy, innovation and business. The event brings together European institutions, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers and investors to discuss the future of Europe’s space ecosystem and the societal benefits of EU space services.

Throughout the two-day event, Mercator Ocean International will support live demonstrations at the European Digital Twin Ocean booth, highlighting its strategic relevance for maritime navigation, security, and European digital sovereignty.

The demonstrations will showcase practical applications of ocean intelligence, including marine environmental monitoring, coastal risk management and access to operational ocean information. They will also illustrate how the European Digital Twin Ocean is helping transform ocean knowledge into actionable tools for policymakers, researchers and stakeholders.

This year’s edition places a particular emphasis on water and sustainability, reflecting the growing role of space-based services in understanding and managing ocean and freshwater systems in a changing climate.

Built on Copernicus Marine Service and EMODnet data, and AI-driven ocean modelling, the EU DTO is developed under European Commission leadership with European partners via the EDITO programme.
